Student Application Process

The STAIR Tutoring Program is semester-based. STAIR offers both In-Person Tutoring and Virtual Tutoring on Mondays through Thursdays between 4:00 and 6:30 p.m.

Applications for Spring 2024 have closed. Applications for Fall 2024 will open in August.

*In-person students must be enrolled at the in-person school site. At this time our in-person sites include:

  • Audubon Charter - Uptown

  • Audubon Charter - Gentilly

  • Morris Jeff Community School

  • YACS Lawrence D. Crocker

During the program, STAIR students will receive: 

  • One-on-one, 60 minute virtual or in-person tutoring sessions once a week

  • 11 - 13 books to help build your child’s home library

  • Pre-recorded video resources that students can access on days they do not have scheduled tutoring 

  • A creative writing journal with weekly assignments 

To participate in STAIR’s Fall 2024 Program, a child must meet the following requirements:

  • Enrolled in 2nd or 3rd grade in a public school for the 2024-2025 school year

  • Complete an online application form

  • Complete an online reading assessment

STAIR provides one-on-one tutoring, all materials, and all books required to participate. For in person tutoring, must attend participating above. For virtual tutoring, a student will need access to the internet and a desktop computer, laptop, iPad, or tablet with a camera, and must live within the greater New Orleans area to participate.
