What does my child receive from the program?

  • 1 hour of one-on-one tutoring once a week

  • Tutoring Extension Activities

  • A STAIR Writing Journal

  • A year-long subscription to a digital library service

  • Read Aloud Videos & Discussions

How long is the STAIR program? Can my child participate next term?

The STAIR program is 11 weeks long, and students may reapply for another term after completion.

What if my child’s tutor is not a good fit?

Please let us know if you have any concerns about your child’s tutor by emailing program@stairnola. If needed, we will do our best to match you with another tutor.

What if my tutor has poor attendance?

Send us an email if your tutor misses more than two sessions without notice. We will speak directly with the tutor to address any attendance concerns.

What if my tutor can’t continue tutoring?

If your tutor needs to leave the program, we will work quickly to get a tutor replacement for your child. Depending on the amount of volunteers we have, a tutor with another student may need to substitute in the interim.

Do you have a summer program?

We currently do not have any active summer 2024 programs, but they will be coming soon!

I would like to know more about the STAIR Policies and other subjects we’ve touched on.  How can I get more information about STAIR?

At the beginning of the STAIR term, we will go over our program procedures and policies with all parents. We will send weekly newsletters with information on each tutoring week. If there is anything else you need clarification on, please feel free to email us at program@stairnola.org with any questions or concerns. Thank you!
